This church is part of a larger denomination called the Church of the Nazarene. The church was formed at the turn of the century and was born out of a desire to see the passion and zeal for the Lord rekindled in the church of Jesus. The Church of the Nazarene was formed out of the “holiness movement”; an intense period of spiritual revival, which called people out of complacent and worldly living into a life that worshipped the Lord in His holiness and lived out a holy life before the Lord. The church had at its focus the desire to be like Jesus, that is why it was called the Church of the Nazarene  (Mark 16:6).

Throughout its history, The Church of the Nazarene has held at its core Jesus’ two important directives to His followers. First, is the Great Commandment: to love the Lord completely and to live a holy and pure life before Him. Second, is The Great Commission: to evangelize the entire world and bring people into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. It is a church with a strong heritage and commitment to the ministry of Jesus Christ. The Church of the Nazarene stands fully within the mainstream of historic Christianity and especially emphasizes the doctrine of holiness and understands the Christian faith within the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. Below is a brief synopsis of our Articles of Faith, the doctrinal statement of the Church of the Nazarene.

Our Beliefs...Our church is a part of the Church of the Nazarene denomination which is active in over 150 world areas.  We believe the following to be true:

  •  We believe in one God-the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  •  We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.
  •  We believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.
  •  We believe that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.
  •  We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.
  •  We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  •  We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.
  •  We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
